This scrapbooking idea helps you to create some whimsy on your layouts. You can even use your children’s doodling to document their artwork. You can draw free hand on the paper, you can cut out doodles and glue them to your paper and there are even swirly doodling templates if you don’t want to draw freehand. You can use pens, paint, chalk, glitter and even add in stamps. The possibilities are limitless.
For my layout I used one of the plastic templates above and with a pencil, sketched out my design. Then I used some glitter paint with a fine tip applicator (called Stickles) and traced over my design to make it pop.
You can certainly sketch your own design freehand if you don’t have or want to use a template. Colored watercolor pencils are great for this but must be used on heavy cardstock with just a touch of water or the paper will curl up. You can also use chalk to color in your design which gives you a variety of color possibilities.
Another alternate would be to trace the design on coordinating cardstock and using a small hand cutting tool, cut around it and glue it to your design. Doing this in multiple colors or combining it with glitter or chalk will make it really pop.
This is a simple and idea technique to try. You can use just what you have on hand and improvise to save money!Find another great scrapbooking idea here.
